Grape Seed Extract Facts
Grape seed extract is derived from the seeds of red grapes and is naturally rich in polyphenols, particularly a group called oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). These compounds are well known for their role in supporting the body’s natural antioxidant defenses and promoting vascular and connective tissue health.
Key Benefits of Grape Seed Extract:
- Provides oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) that support vascular health, antioxidant defenses, and connective tissue integrity.
- Antioxidant protection that complements the body’s own defense
Why it Matters:
Skin and connective tissue matter with age: Collagen levels decline after about age 25, contributing to wrinkles and joint stiffness ¹. OPCs help protect collagen and elastin from breakdown.
Dietary gaps: The average diet provides only ~95 mg/day of proanthocyanidins, mostly from fruit skins, seeds, and nuts. Extracts provide standardized and higher amounts, ensuring consistent intake.
