Probiotics Facts

Probiotics are live microorganisms or "good bacteria" that when consumed in adequate amounts have a beneficial effect on the individual taking them. They are available from a variety of foods and supplements. Fermented foods like yogurt, kefir, kimchi, miso and tempeh contain live probiotic cultures. Probiotics promote a healthy balance of gut bacteria and have been linked to a wide range of whole-body health benefits.

Key Benefits of Probiotics:

  • Healthy gut lining for increased nutrient absorption
  • Balanced gut microbiome for improved gut health
  • Easier time digesting food
  • Bowel movement regularity
  • Enhanced immune response
  • Balanced mood

Why it Matters:

According to the American Gastroenterological Association in 2022, ~40% of Americans reported impacts to their normal routines caused by uncomfortable GI symptoms ¹.
AG1 includes 5 probiotic strains clinically shown to support digestive and immune health:
Bifidobacterium lactis HN019 is shown to help the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut and support bowel regularity, comfort, and less bloating.*
Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM is one of the most well-studied strains of L. acidophilus and is shown to support digestive comfort by helping the body break down food.*
Lactobacillus casei LC-11 is shown to help balance the gut microbiome.*
Lactobacillus plantarum LP-115 is shown to support the immune response in the gut.*
Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) is a probiotic supported by hundreds of human studies and has been shown to support the immune system and defend against environmental stress.*
AG1 formulations use non-dairy probiotics so that they are suitable for those with dairy sensitivities.
Studies show probiotics are not enough to provide long term change to the gut and are more effective when combined with prebiotics. We combine traditional prebiotic fibers with antioxidants for added nutrient synergy in the gut microbiome.
